Why do I need this medicine?
Ipratropium Bromide is used to treat asthma and other chest illnesses.

This medicine helps treat your asthma or other chest illnesses by relaxing the airways in your lungs. This helps relieve chest tightness, wheezing and cough so that you can breathe more easily.
How do I use this medicine?
Use Ipratropium Bromide exactly as directed by your doctor or according to the instructions on the label. Do not use more or less than instructed by your doctor.

Ipratropium Bromide is available as different types of devices, such as an inhaler or aerohaler. It is also available as a nebulising solution. The nebulising solution is to be used with a machine known as a nebuliser.

Make sure you know how to use the specific device or machine which you have been given. If you have problems or do not understand the instructions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Ipratropium Bromide must be used regularly for it to be effective. Continue using Ipratropium Bromide even when you feel better. Do not stop using it unless instructed by the doctor.
What should I do if I have forgotten to use this medicine?
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Take your next dose at the usual time.

DO NOT double a dose under any circumstances.

If you often forget to use your medicine, let your doctor and pharmacist know.
What should I take note of while using this medicine?
Inform your doctor if you have:

- glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye)
- prostate enlargement
- bladder problems
- chronic constipation
- cystic fibrosis (a disease that causes thick, sticky mucus build up in the lungs)
- myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness disorder)

Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

If you are using a nebuliser mask, make sure that it fits well on your face. Do not allow the nebulising solution to enter your eyes. If the solution gets into your eyes, flush with clean water immediately. See a doctor quickly if there is pain, discomfort, blurred or abnormal vision after the solution or mist enters your eyes.
What side effects could I experience?
This medicine may make you dizzy. If affected, do not drive or take part in any activity in which you need to be alert.

Other side effects include any of the following: headache, difficulty urinating, tiredness, difficulty sleeping, changes in bowel habits, dry mouth, sore throat, cough and hoarse voice.

If you develop wheezing or difficulty in breathing after taking Ipratropium Bromide, stop the medicine and alert your doctor immediately.

Inform your doctor if any of these side effects do not go away or are severe, or if you experience other side effects.
Can I use this with other medicines?
Inform your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking other asthma medicines e.g. salbutamol, theophylline.

Always notify your doctor and pharmacist if you are taking any other medicines, including herbal tonics such as traditional Chinese medicines, supplements and medicines that you buy without a prescription.
How should I store this medicine?
Store in a cool, dry place away from the reach of children.

Medicines must not be used past the expiry date.
